Remote Control Sailing

A keen and enthusiastic group which seems to keep growing by the week, have purchased a remote controlled Dragon Force 65 yacht and commenced racing around Freshwater Bay. There is a Facebook and WhatsApp group where they schedule weekly sailing depending on weather and other club events.

The beauty of the strict one design class for the DF65 means the yachts performance is totally up to the skipper.

Another benefit of the class is the low purchase cost, currently around $260 AUS for a complete DF65 boat including all electrics. The Australian distributor of the DF65 and spare parts is Hobby Warehouse.

If you are thinking to join in on the fun, then please speak to Andrew to join the Facebook or WhatsApp group and come along to a sailing day and give it and try.

Before purchasing a yacht:

Please read through the additional information documents which give you tips on which version (v6) to purchase and the additional options of type of remote and rechargeable batteries. Currently we are just using the standard A rig included with the starter pack. As we progress we may start to look at the additional sail sizes.

Sail number allocation:

Australian DF Radio Sailing Association allocate each boat a hull number and the last 2 or 3 digits of your hull are your sail numbers.

There is no cost to join the association, or to register your DF boat.
Please complete the form on this link to apply once you order your boat. Registration Link
