Three Peat on offer at 2027 Warren Jones International

The Cruising Yacht Club of Australia and Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club have today announced the dates for Australia’s premier World Sailing Grade 2 match racing events, with the Helly Hansen International and Warren Jones International once again set to attract the world’s leading young match racers to Australian waters.

The 2027 Helly Hansen International will be hosted by the CYCA on Sydney Harbour from Monday 18 January to Friday 22 January 2027, before competitors travel west for the Warren Jones International at the Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club in Perth from Monday 25 January to Friday 29 January 2027.

The back-to-back regattas have become a key pathway for emerging international match racing talent, regularly attracting world champions and future professional sailors. Competitors in Perth will also enjoy celebrating Australia Day during the regatta on Tuesday 26 January, adding another highlight to the week-long event on the Swan River.
The prestigious Warren Jones International is shaping as one of the most anticipated editions in the event’s history, with this year’s event presenting the first opportunity for a team to claim a record third title.

Australia’s rising star Cole Tapper from the CYCA, who will enter his final year of eligibility has the ability to secure a historic three-peat in Perth having claimed back-to-back titles in 2025 and 2026.

Tapper has rapidly established himself as one of the sport’s brightest young talents, compiling an impressive international résumé that includes a skippering Australia’s entry in the 2024 UniCredit Youth America’s Cup, a Youth Match Racing World Championship title, two Governor’s Cup titles, two Warren Jones International victories and, most recently, victory at the 61st Congressional Cup – becoming the youngest team to win the event and the first Australian team in 38 years to wear the crimson blazer.

The announcement continues the strong partnership between the CYCA and Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club, with the two iconic clubs working together to provide a world-class Australian summer series for the next generation of international match racing sailors.
