SailGP "Festival of Sail" - Keelboat Racing
Friday, 16 January 2026
So that members can travel to Fremantle and enjoy the full SailGP spectacle, there will be no keelboat racing on Saturday 17 January.
As a result, racing has been moved from the usual Saturday program to late afternoon on Friday 16 January.
Please note that the schedule for 16 January printed in the 2025–26 Handbook is no longer current. Fleets will now start in the following order and at the times listed below:
• 1730 – Division I / BW8 - Doyle Sails Trophy – Div I / Hooked Trophy – BW8
• 1735 – Division II – The Individual Day Out Trophy
• 1740 – Couta Boat – The Kasey Trophy
• 1745 – Etchells – Pennant Race
• 1750 – Dragon – The Canewdon Witch Trophy
• 1755 – The Neffarious Characters Trophy
All fleets will sail a single non-consistency race from the club line. Courses will remain the usual club line courses, however a shortened course will be set.
These Friday races will also incorporate the Pathfinder Trophy for junior sailors. Any sailor under 18 years of age sailing aboard a keelboat will be eligible. Winners will be determined within each fleet based on the day’s handicap results. If you have a “Working with Children” Certificate we can allocate a junior or juniors from our dinghy fleets to your boat – simply let us know if you would like us to organise this for you. If you do not have a WWC Certificate you are encouraged to bring your own juniors - simply let us know who you will have on board by email to [email protected]. Anyone wishing to obtain a WWC certificate can do so by contacting our Dinghy Operations Manager, Patrick Anderson-Loake, at [email protected]
The Friday racing will form part of our Festival of Sail, building momentum into SailGP weekend. Expect live music, great food and drinks, and plenty of SailGP energy to kick things off.
Please alert your crew and get them on board, its shaping up to be a great night at the Club.
To assist with race management and catering, all skippers are asked to sign on yourselves and your crew via the Club App by midday Wednesday, 14 January, in the usual manner.
If you experience any issues with the sign-on process, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with the Sailing Administrator, Sharon Skinner, at [email protected] . Knowing expected numbers will assist the club greatly.
