The JM Zeffert Memorial Time Trial competing for the “Kylie Cup”

Royal Freshwater Bay Yacht Club invites all power boats to participate in the 2021 JM Zeffert Memorial Time Trial competing for the “Kylie Cup”.

This event will also incorporate CPYC State Heat No. 7

Mr Jack Zeffert participated around the Bay in his boat ‘Kylie’ in numerous time trials before he decided to bring all the Clubs together for an Invitational Time Trial and sponsor a power event. The Kylie Cup was first held in 1958 and has been held every year since. It is the oldest annual time trialling event on the river.

Kylie, skippered by Jack Zeffert, won the race in 1972 and won it again in 1975 and 1976 only the 2nd time that a Power boat has won the race in consecutive years.

The 1st double win was by Photon in 1964 and 1965 with G.H.T. Hutton.

Jack used to love his involvement with the Kylie Cup and power boat racing in general. He used to race with his brother-in-law Ray and they had a good time during their involvement. Jack was also well known for his entertaining speeches at presentation time.

Jack and Lucille Zeffert’s son Ken and his wife Linda continue to support the event to this day and we thank them very much for helping to bring time triallers from all over the river together

This year we celebrate the 64th Kylie Cup.  The 2021 event will take place on Sunday morning 29 August commencing at 09:30am.  The course will be No. 221.

Please note that this event will also incorporate the CPYC State Heat No. 7.  See the CPYC website for further information HERE.
